eBay has seen an astonishing rise in the sales of pastel and vibrant coloured hair dye thanks to the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry and Kelly Osbourne adopting the technicolour trend. Britain’s style seekers are jumping on the beauty bandwagon: Bubble-gum pink and lilac are the new shades of choice with each seeing an increase of +268%* and +320%** respectively. Sales of emerald (+109%) *** and sapphire hair dye (+225%) ****have also soared, as Kylie Jenner and hair-chameleon Katy Perry recently rocked jewel-inspired hair do’s. Festival fever is reaching epidemic levels with Glastonbury this weekend, so publishers could see a sustained level of buying as the best of British reach for the luminous hair dye and glow sticks in order to strut-their-stuff in 6 inches of mud.
This spiking category provides publishers with an excellent opportunity to capitalise on very niche, seasonal trends, provided it fits their audience demographic.
